Steel imports into Vietnam is forecast to decrease sharply
From VSA data showed domestic crude steel production in 2010 is estimated at 8.7 million tons, up 26.12% compared to 2009. Which increase the production of cold rolled steel coils and strips (up to 36.3%), steel bars (up nearly 25 %)...
VSA estimated imports of steel products and semi-products imported into Vietnam this year is 10.5 million, down about 15% compared to 2009, equivalent to 1.8 million tons. Steel Association said this could be because of cold rolled steel increased domestic production, so the amount of products imported into Vietnam is greatly reduced.
Moreover, the number of imported steel in 2009 has exceeded the actual demand, the stock of companies in steel imports, not to users directly. Therefore, to expand market share sales, businesses have stepped up exports products to foreign markets.
According to the VSA, the amount of steel exported abroad in Vietnam this year will reach 1.3 million tons, up 30% from last year.
